Education in Data Networks using OPNET

ECE 158 is a senior level undergraduate course on the subject of data networks. The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to basic concepts in networking, including layering and tunneling, link layer protocols, multi-access protocols, routing, flow control, performance analysis, as well as current trends in high speed switch architectures. The concept of event driven simulations is introduced via the OPNET modeler package. In past years, students have developed and experimented with simulation models for the distributed, asynchronous, Bellman-Ford shortest path routing algorithm. Information on past assignments can be found here.
