Software Engineer Platform/Forwarding Engine – NEW GRAD

Job Description

SpiderCloud is seeking a Software Engineer who will be responsible for design and development of Platform and IP Packet Forwarding Engine software on multiple SpiderCloud platforms. The ideal candidate will be reporting to the Platform Manager.

Responsibilities will include

  • Design, document and develop Platform/Embedded/Systems software for Wireless Networking equipment.
  • Develop low-level Linux Kernel, Forwarding plane features and/or Systems Software for Spidercloud’s Controller and Access Points.
  • Forwarding Plane design and development for SpiderCloud’s Network Function Virtualization solutions.
  • Writing Software Specifications.  Working with QA and field support teams to help ensure a high-quality product.

 

Requirements for this position include

 

  • Experience with embedded or systems software development.
  • Excellent ‘C’ programming skills on Linux.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking.
  • Experience with Linux Kernel is a plus.
  • Forwarding Plane (IP networking) development experience is a plus.
  • Prior experience with SDN/NFV Solutions is a plus.
  • Understanding of modern OS kernels and experience with Hypervisors such as KVM is a plus

Systems Engineering Wireless Engineer – NEW GRAD

The Systems Engineering and Advanced Technology team in SpiderCloud is responsible for software development of intelligent wireless (LTE/LTE-A/5G) network solutions. The team is growing and we are looking for a new member. Ideal candidate should be strong in statistical analysis and knows the fundamentals of wireless communication. Together with a highly multi-disciplinary team of engineers, scientists, strategic partners, product managers and subject domain experts, you will work on building solutions powered by big data, analytics and machine learning platforms. You will work on a best-in-class cloud computing platform, with cutting edge big data tools at your disposal while having access to experts in networking, engineering and data science. The ideal candidate will be reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop carrier grade wireless solutions and innovative analytics to differentiate our solutions.
  • Transform your abstract ideas into mathematical models that is easy to understand on a piece of paper, and capable of implementing the idea in C++ /Java/Python.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and scientists to find effective solutions to technical challenges.
  • Work closely with engineers to build, test, deploy, and troubleshoot machine learning based software
  • Overcome complexities of an evolving machine learning and data science ecosystem – build our understanding on concepts like feature engineering, storage, real-time prediction, containerization, deployment of predictors, and the interplay of multiple predictive models.

 

Requirements:

  • Degrees in EE/CS/STAT, or comparable statistically driven science field. Ph.D. or M.S. preferred but not required.
  • Strong in wireless, statistics, and probability theory.
  • Good understanding of statistical model and machine learning algorithms: linear/logistic regression, SVM, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Excellent algorithmic problem-solving skills, and the ability to implement solutions in Java, Python, and/or Scala, Go, etc.
  • Ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate, analyze complex datasets, and extracting insights using SQL, R, and Spark.
  • Experience in building predictive models for recommendations, predictions, and classifications.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with LTE/5G-NSA/5G-SA standardization research and study.
  • Experience with libraries such as Spark ML, TensorFlow, Scikit-Learn, Keras. MXNet, Torch, etc.
  • Experience with working on large data sets, especially with Hadoop and Spark.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, D3.js, plotly.js.

Wireless Software Engineering – NEW GRAD

SpiderCloud is looking for a new PhD graduate to play an important role in the complete product development cycle for our UMTS, LTE, and 5G wireless products, with particular focus on MAC/PHY algorithms and wireless system performance. The ideal candidate has a PhD in wireless communication systems, some C/C++ coding experience, and an interest in implementing and debugging real-world algorithms.  The candidate will be reporting to the Wireless Software Engineering Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain wireless algorithms and embedded software for UMTS/LTE/5G radio access networks and other advanced technologies.
  • Debug complex wireless issues seen during QA testing, at customer field trials, and at live customer deployments.
  • Own overall system performance at the air-interface and understand how it relates to customer-visible KPI like call drop rate and voice quality in a variety of RF environments.
  • Understand 3GPP MAC and PHY-layer procedures, expected behavior, and typical performance tradeoffs, especially as they relate to overall system performance.

Requirements:

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering with focus on wireless communications.
  • New PhD grad with hands-on implementation experience preferred, MS or PhD with a few years of industry experience in a wireless software development or wireless system design role will also be considered.
  • Excellent foundation in wireless communication theory and digital signal processing including detection and estimation theory, digital signal processing, RF architecture tradeoffs, channel coding fundamentals, wireless channel modeling, link adaptation, etc.
  • Familiar with C/C++ software development in a Linux development environment and associated tool
