Doug Rowitch, is a (not so) recent graduate of the Department of
Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California,
San Diego. In June, 1998, he received the Ph.D. degree, specializing
in Communication Theory and Systems. His research advisor is (was)
Laurence B. Milstein, Ph.D .
His previous research has been concerned with an application of
convolutional and turbo forward error correction coding (FEC) to a multicarrier
direct sequence (DS) code division multiple access (CDMA)
signalling scheme. Subsequent research considered an application of turbo
coding to an automatic repeat-request (ARQ) protocol, using
rate compatible puncturing. Dr. Rowitch has been employed at
Qualcomm Inc. since July 1998, where he is a principal engineer/manager
working on 3G CDMA and gpsOne ASIC developments.
